Score Predictor walkthrough: Brazil versus Germany, 2014
Predicting a big Germany win
Suppose the card shows Brazil against Germany, World Cup semifinal, 2014. You remember Germany humiliated the hosts, so you lock in 1-5.
Landing in the smallest right result tier
The reveal says 1-7. You called the winner and Brazil's goal exactly, but being 2 off on Germany's tally drops you out of the 700 tier and out of the 400 tier too, since both scores need to be close. Right result, 200 points, and a fun fact about the strangest half in World Cup history.
Score Predictor tips for calibrating by sport
Calibrating goals and points by sport
Calibrate by sport. Soccer classics live between 0 and 4 goals, NBA finals scores sit in the 80s to 110s.
Expecting tight scores in famous upsets
Famous upsets are usually tight. Blowouts are famous precisely because they're rare.
Reading the hint for the shape of the score
The hint often nods at the drama, like a comeback or a shootout, which hints at the shape of the score.
Nailing the winner before the numbers
Nail the winner first. That alone is the difference between 200 and 50.
