3 guesses left ยท hint appears after your first miss
Emoji Guess | DoUKnowBall
A daily set of five football emoji riddles, the same five for everyone. Each puzzle is a player, club, manager or iconic moment told entirely in emoji. Three guesses per puzzle, with a hint after your first miss. Fewer guesses, more points.
Can you read football in emoji? Emoji Guess serves five riddles a day, each one a player, club, manager or iconic moment told entirely in little pictures.
Some solve themselves at a glance. Others sit there smugly until the hint arrives and you groan out loud. Five puzzles, three guesses each, and a colored grid to prove how you did.
How to play Emoji Guess, a free daily football emoji trivia game
Reading the emoji string and its category
Look at the emoji string and the category label above it.
Typing a forgiving surname answer
Type your answer. Surnames are fine and spelling is forgiving on accents.
Unlocking a hint after a miss
Miss once and a written hint appears under the emoji.
Getting three guesses per puzzle
You get 3 guesses per puzzle before the answer is revealed.
Clearing five puzzles and sharing your grid
Clear all 5 puzzles, then share your grid of green, yellow, orange and red squares.
Emoji Guess rules for scoring, hints and the daily reset
Five puzzles at rising difficulty
Each day serves 5 puzzles: 2 easy, 2 medium and 1 hard, the same set for everyone.
How the tiered scoring works
Scoring per puzzle: 100 points on the first guess, 60 on the second, 30 on the third, 0 for a miss. A perfect day is 500.
What the hint actually costs you
The hint appears after your first wrong guess, at no extra cost beyond the tier you already dropped.
When the daily set resets
The set flips at midnight Eastern Time, and your progress saves for the day.
Emoji Guess walkthrough: a goat emoji and a cherry emoji
Solving a goat next to an Argentina flag
Suppose puzzle one is a goat next to an Argentina flag, category Player. You type Messi, first try, 100 points. Puzzle two is a single cherry with the category Club, and you sit there blank.
Cracking a single cherry after a hint
One wrong guess later the hint mentions England's south coast, and it clicks: Bournemouth, the Cherries, 60 points. That's the game in miniature, instant glory or a slow, hint-assisted crawl.
Emoji Guess tips for reading categories and catching puns
Reading the category label before the emoji
Read the category label first. The same emoji means different things for a club than for a moment.
Thinking about crests for club puzzles
Club puzzles usually run on nicknames and badges, so think about what's on the crest.
Saying the emoji out loud for puns
Say the emoji out loud. Half these riddles are puns that only work in your ears.
Guessing on your last try rather than waiting
Down to your last guess, wait for nothing. A 30 beats a zero and keeps the grid respectable.
Emoji Guess FAQ: accepted answers, scoring and other sports
What answers are accepted?
The full name, common aliases, or a surname on its own. Accents, capitals and punctuation are ignored, so mbappe works fine.
Do wrong guesses cost points?
Only by dropping you a tier. First-guess solves score 100, second 60, third 30, and three misses score 0 for that puzzle.
Is it only football?
Yes, this one is all football: players, clubs, managers and famous moments from the game.
Is Emoji Guess free to play?
Yes. Emoji Guess is free to play on DoUKnowBall, right in your browser. No download and no signup needed.
